What does Excello Engineering Services actually do?

Do you work outside Accra?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work across Ghana. Site visits outside Greater Accra are scheduled with travel included in the proposal so there are no surprise costs.

Is a piped gas system safe for a home or a restaurant?

Accepted Answer

It is safer than loose cylinders when it is installed correctly. Pipework is sized and pressure tested, cylinders or tanks stay outside in ventilated space, and leak detection with automatic shut off can be added.

How long does a typical installation take?

A domestic kitchen or single restaurant line is usually a few days. A bulk tank or an estate wide reticulated network runs in weeks and is programmed alongside the building works.

Do you provide certification documents?

Yes. Pressure and tightness test records are documented, and we support certification with the relevant Ghanaian regulatory institutions on the installations we carry out.

Can you maintain a system another contractor installed?

Yes. We inspect what is there first, report what needs correcting, then take on servicing, leak repair or upgrading once the installation is safe to certify.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Scheduled servicing, inspection and semi annual fire system checks can be set up as a contract so the system stays in the condition it was commissioned in.

Should the LPG tank be underground or aboveground?

It depends on space, access for the delivery truck and how the compound is used. Aboveground is cheaper to install and easier to inspect. Underground frees up space and is common where the yard is tight or the appearance matters.

What size tank does my facility need?

Tank size follows your peak demand and how often you want deliveries. We calculate it from appliance ratings and running hours rather than guessing from floor area.

Can gas piping be added to a building that is already finished?

Yes. Retrofitting is routine work for us. Routes are planned to keep chasing and repair to a minimum, and surface mounted runs are used where breaking walls is not sensible.

How often should a gas installation be tested?

Tightness testing at commissioning, then on a scheduled basis, typically annually for domestic and semi annually for commercial and industrial installations, plus after any modification.

Can you decommission or refurbish an old tank?

Yes. Tank renovation, refurbishment, commissioning and decommissioning are part of our scope, including purging and safe handling before any work starts.

How does reticulated gas work on an estate?

Gas is stored in one central vessel or gas bank and piped underground to each house, then through in wall piping to the appliances. Residents stop buying and carrying cylinders.

Can each household be billed separately?

Yes. Individual meters record consumption per household, and prepaid metering can be used where the developer or facility manager wants gas recovered per unit.

At what stage should a developer bring us in?

As early as possible, ideally at design. Vessel position, pipe routes and ventilation settled before walls go up costs a fraction of correcting it afterwards.

Can a completed estate be converted to reticulated gas?

Yes. Retrofitting completed structures is part of this service, planned so occupied homes stay usable during the works.

Do you supply kitchen equipment as well as install it?

Yes. We handle complete kitchen setup: equipment supply, stainless steel hoods, gas piping with electronic leak safety devices and the fire suppression system.

Is a kitchen fire suppression system required?

For any commercial kitchen with deep fat frying or high output ranges it is the difference between a contained incident and a lost building. Insurers and fire authorities increasingly expect one.

How often do hoods and fire systems need servicing?

Hood and duct cleaning depends on cooking volume, commonly quarterly. Fire suppression systems are inspected semi annually.

Where do the gas cylinders or tank sit in a restaurant?

Outside the kitchen, in ventilated space with protection from traffic and heat, with piping running in to the appliances. Cylinders inside a working kitchen is a hazard we design out.

What does a complete fire protection package include?

Typically detection and alarm, gas and LPG leak detection, extinguishers, sprinklers or an automatic suppression system, and the signage and response procedure that go with them.

Can you upgrade an existing fire system instead of replacing it?

Often yes. We inspect the panel, detectors and pipework, then advise what can be retained and what must be replaced to make the system dependable.

How quickly does gas detection respond to a leak?

Detectors alarm at a set percentage of the lower explosive limit, well before a hazardous concentration builds, and can trigger an automatic shut off valve on the gas line.

Do you service extinguishers and carry out hydrostatic testing?

Yes. Extinguisher servicing and hydrostatic testing of cylinders are part of our maintenance work.

What does M.E.P. cover on your projects?

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing works around the systems we install: ventilation and air conditioning, power to plant and controls, water and drainage where the installation depends on it.

Why does kitchen ventilation matter so much?

Extraction removes heat, grease and combustion products. Poor ventilation makes a kitchen unbearable to work in, fouls equipment and raises fire risk in the duct.

Can you coordinate with our architect and main contractor?

Yes. Coordinating gas, mechanical, electrical and building works so they fit the building rather than fight it is a normal part of our supervision role.

Yes. Servicing, filter and coil cleaning and fault repair can be scheduled under a maintenance agreement.

Yes. Quotations are prepared at no cost once we understand the scope. Detailed design work on a large project is agreed separately before it starts.
