Project Supervision and Management

Engineering oversight from feasibility to commissioning

On gas and safety installations the difference between a good outcome and an expensive one is usually supervision. We manage and supervise these projects end to end, keeping the specification, the sequence and the testing under control.

What we take on

Excello supervises and manages LPG and gas projects from feasibility and design through to commissioning. That includes turn key delivery, where we carry the full scope, and supervision only, where the client has a contractor but wants engineering oversight of the work.

We keep this focused on our own field. Gas infrastructure, kitchens, fire safety systems and the mechanical and electrical works around them are what we supervise. We do not present ourselves as a general construction project manager.

Projects are led by named people, with a project manager accountable to the client and area supervisors on site, so there is always someone who can answer for the state of the work.

Scope of work

  • Feasibility assessment and site survey
  • Design coordination with architects and contractors
  • Materials and specification review
  • Installation supervision on site
  • Testing and certification support
  • Commissioning and maintenance planning

Why it matters

What supervision actually prevents

Almost every remedial job we are called to could have been avoided at design or installation stage.

Decisions made in the right order

Tank position, pipe routes and ventilation are settled before walls go up. Supervision at design stage prevents changes that cost far more later.

Specification held

Materials get substituted on site when nobody is checking. We review what arrives against what was specified.

Coordination between trades

Gas, electrical, plumbing and building works overlap. Someone has to sequence them, and that responsibility sits with us on the installations we supervise.

Evidence at handover

Test records, commissioning notes and a maintenance schedule are produced as the work proceeds, not assembled afterwards.

Process

How a supervised project runs

Select a stage to see what it involves.

Initial assessment

We review the site, the intended use and the constraints, then set out what is feasible and what the installation has to achieve.

Who we work with

Typical clients for this service

Property developers

Developers running housing schemes who need the gas infrastructure specified, supervised and certified alongside the build.

Project owners

Owners of commercial and industrial facilities who want independent engineering oversight of a gas or safety installation.

Contractors

Main contractors who need a specialist to take responsibility for the LPG and fire safety packages.

Supervision is also the safety function on a project. Testing witnessed, materials checked and defects corrected during installation are what make a system safe to commission.
